Test version
YayNay is under development and is being tested in a closed test version via Apple's TestFlight. The test version may contain errors, and data may be reset. Apple receives information about your use of TestFlight (e.g. crashes and your feedback) under Apple's own terms; we can see feedback you send via TestFlight. Test data will be deleted when the test ends at the latest at public launch, unless you want to keep your account.
In brief
YayNay is a free app where people vote on who is right and chat with their friends. We show no advertising, sell no information and use no analytics or tracking tools. Your data is stored on servers in the EU (Frankfurt). You can delete your account and your content in the app.
Who is responsible (data controller)?
Hauge & Danling ApS (in formation), Copenhagen (address to follow on company registration), Denmark, CVR no. being registered (company in formation). Privacy contact: contact@hauge-danling.com.
What information, why and for how long
When you open the app (without signing up)
- Anonymous account: Everyone who opens YayNay automatically gets an anonymous account (a random ID), so you can read and vote without signing up. Legal basis: contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). Retention: anonymous accounts that have not been used for 12 months are deleted automatically.
- IP address and technical information are processed by our providers (Supabase and Apple) to deliver and protect the service. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). Retention: according to the providers' logging rules.
When you create an account
- Email and password (the password is only stored encrypted). Used for login and "forgot password". Legal basis: contract.
- Name, profile picture, bio, language, who you follow. Used for your profile. Your profile can be seen by everyone who uses the app, including people without an account. Legal basis: contract.
- Date of birth: stored only on your phone and used to check that you are at least 16 years old and to calculate your age group. We only receive the age group, never your date of birth.
- Gender (optional): used only for aggregate figures in the statistics. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw under Settings → Privacy.
When you vote
- We store which side you voted for together with your account ID. Your age group and gender (if provided) are not stored with your vote – they are only counted in the aggregate, anonymous figures per post. Others never see your individual vote – only aggregate figures, and only for groups with at least 20 votes. If you delete your account, your vote is removed from the Yes/No figures; the figures by gender and age remain as anonymous aggregate figures.
- Your votes may say something about your opinions. That is why we never show them individually.
Posts, duels and "arguments"
- Your posts and replies are shown in the feed with your name. If you choose "anonymous" in an argument, your name is not shown to other users – but we can still see who wrote it (e.g. in the case of reports). Legal basis: contract.
- If you start an argument, you get a code that you share with the other side as text (e.g. in a message). The recipient opens the code in the app and only sees the question until they have replied themselves.
Chats
- Messages, group chats, polls and quizzes in chats and invitations are stored on the server so that they can be shown to the participants in the chat. Legal basis: contract.
- We do not read your chats unless a message is reported to us or the law requires it. However, messages are not end-to-end encrypted, so we and our providers can technically access them.
- Voice messages stay on your phone and are not sent to the server.
Reports and moderation
- If you report content, we store what was reported, why, and who reported it. Legal basis: legitimate interest and the EU Digital Services Act. Retention: 12 months.
Support
- The help chat in the app replies automatically from fixed texts – no artificial intelligence. The conversation is only stored on your phone and is not sent to us.
- Support cases (your message and our reply) are stored so that only you and we can see them. Retention: 12 months after the last message.
Permissions on your phone
Microphone (voice messages), camera and photos (profile picture and pictures in chats). You can always turn them off in your phone's settings.

Local storage on your phone
The app stores your own posts, settings, language choice and login on your phone so that the app works. This does not require consent. See the cookie policy.
How long do we keep the information?
Until you delete it or your account. It disappears from backups no later than 30 days afterwards. Anonymous accounts: see above.
Delete your account
In the app: Me → Settings → "Delete account and all arguments". We delete your account, profile, posts, votes, reports, support cases, your messages and invitations, and remove you from groups. Without the app, you can request deletion by writing to contact@hauge-danling.com (a Google Play requirement).
Age
YayNay is for people aged 16 and over.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. You can withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@hauge-danling.com. We reply within one month. You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, www.datatilsynet.dk) or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Changes
In the event of significant changes, you will be notified in the app before they take effect.
